Objective

The main objective of this fellowship programme is to encourage and retain young social science and development professionals. The fellowship aims at issues like Citizenship Development, Fundamental Duties and Self Government (Panchayat and Nagarpalika).  CDS envisages a society where a responsible citizen is a part of the structure. To install responsibility amongst citizens CDS opines that the fundamental duties are as pertinent as fundamental rights. Moreover, the Panchayati Raj System should be fully functional so that the funds, functions and functionaries are properly devolved to the level of the panchayat. CDS strongly believes in self-government (Panchayat and Nagar Palika) and thereby the policies made at the level of the nation should be a by-product of the plans made at the rural level, which includes the priorities of the last person. Against this backdrop, CDS is looking forward for fellows who can meaningfully contribute in this process. The process will require a lot of action research, ideation, developing implementation plans and demonstrating it in the field.
